Zig Zag Towers

With the existing building maintenance systems inoperable, the Sky5 team was contracted to provide an access and cleaning solution due to the complex nature of the building design.

Challenges
  • 140m vertical sections, spanning upwards with complex façade and intricate glazing panel design.
  • Our work teams had to scale up and down in size frequently.
  • Extreme environmental working conditions – heat, dust storms and swirling winds.
  • High-level and comprehensive equipment inventory requirements.
  • Actual condition of façade after years of degradation VS clients expectations.
  • Without previous work completed on the property by the company, rigorous Work Health and Safety procedures were required.
Solutions
  • Supply team size of 14 technicians – 2 Safety Co-ordinators – standby rescue and Rigging crews.
  • Hand held anemometer assessing weather conditions every hour to gauge weather conditions.
  • Specialised and custom access equipment supplied and installed to handle the access challenges of the project.
  • Two stage façade washing with initial and final clean proving the optimum option to meet client expectations.
  • Means and methods of maintenance rehearsed to ensure teams work in horizontal formation.
  • Working times commenced at sunset to avoid extreme climate conditions.
