Recently the Sky5 Specialty Access Maintenance team were engaged for what seemed a simple patch of cracked render. Upon further investigation, led by Brett Eather and the team, major defects were identified including large cracks and separating bricks.

To correctly Diagnose the cause of the issue, SKY5 engaged the expertise of Helifix to devise the most effective repair & strengthening strategy tailored to suit the specific needs of the building. Remedial wall ties were installed to tie masonry leaves back into the internal structural frames. Dryfix ties were then driven directly via small pilot holes to provide a completely dry connection.

Chemtie was then used to stabilise and secure cracked areas, reconnecting internal & external building walls and failed parapets. The team removed all the drummy render, repaired rusted re-bar and replaced the render in preparation for painting. Working closely with the client during the process, keeping them up to date along the way to ensure all stakeholders were aware of progress, was key to the project’s success.
